The Lot
"A Gathering Place for People Who Make Movies."
Long before social networks, streaming platforms, or Discord servers — Screenmancer built a virtual movie studio on the internet in 1997. Filmmakers, writers, directors, and creatives found their collaborators, honed their craft, and got their projects made — all from offices on the Screenmancer Lot.

The Original Vision: 1997
In 1997, Hollywood was a closed city. You needed an agent to get a script read, a union card to get on a set, and a studio deal to get a movie made. The internet was barely a twinkle in anyone's eye — and Quendrith Johnson saw something nobody else did.
What if the internet could be a movie studio? Not a website, but a lot — with buildings, offices, departments, and a community of working filmmakers who collaborated across distances, shared resources, and made movies that deserved to be seen?
Screenmancer was that bet. A virtual studio built on a dial-up connection in Venice Beach, years before YouTube, before Netflix, before anyone called it "digital distribution." The Screenmancer Lot was Hollywood's first open lot — and anyone with a story was welcome.
